The Society For Biomaterials
is a professional society which promotes advances in all phases of materials research and development by encouragement of cooperative educational programs, clinical applications, and professional standards in the biomaterials field.

 

Strategic Plan
Focus: Special Interest Group
Special Interest Group Who's Who

Objective: Promote the mission of the Society by nurturing programs which will enhance Society education and increase Society enrollment.

Goals Strategies for Implementation Implementation Resources Necessary for Implementation
Promote and enhance education of Society members within each of the Special Interest Group specified research areas. Submit Special Interest Group educational plan for the following calendar year to Society President and Meetings Chair, Executive Director, Program Committee Chair, and Chair of the Special Interest Group Committee for review. Annually

Submit in August
SIG Chairs Representative and committee of SIG Chairs
  Consider and incorporate review comments into educational plan for submission to Fall Council. Annually SIG Chair Representative
Enhance communication with and among Society members to each specified research area. Submit articles to the Biomaterials Forum magazine (at least three per Group per year) relative to news/information of the specified research area and Special Interest Group activities. Annually Individual SIG Sec/Treasurer SIG Reporters under the direction of the SIG Chair
Facilitate networking of members in each specified research area. Maintain active Special Interest Group website page. Ongoing Individual SIG Sec/Treasurer SIG Reporters under the direction of the SIG Chair
  Encourage scientific research in each specified research area. Ongoing

Report to Council annually
SIG Chair Representative
Promote Special Interest Group membership. Develop a membership promotion plan for Special Interest Groups in concert with the Membership Committee, the Secretary- Treasurer and Executive Director. Ongoing

  Develop Special Interest Group membership promotion plan. Annually
