The Society For Biomaterials
is a professional society which promotes advances in all phases of materials research and development by encouragement of cooperative educational programs, clinical applications, and professional standards in the biomaterials field.

Goals Strategies for Implementation Implement Resources Necessary for Implementation
Review/reaffirm the strategic plan of the Society. Meet to review the strategic plan of the Society. Annually

Report to the 2nd Spring Council
Committee Members
Serve in advisory and listening-post capacity to other Committees of Council with regard to long-range planning. In consultation with LRP Committee members, LRP committee chair assigns each committee member to interact with the chairs of 2-3 of Council's standing committees on a regular basis. Annually- Assignments

Quarterly- Contact with other committes
Committee members input from other standing committees.
Revise existing strategic plan and develop new plan, focusing on 2, 5, and 10-year goals. Committee discussion and meetings; published revised plan as needed. Throughout year: discussion; Quarterly - meetings (e.g. conference calls); As needed: Publication of revised plan. Committee members; budget for conference calls; input from other standing committees for 5- and 10- year plans, also Utilize President's Advisory Committee and Society Fellows as special resources.
Strive for balanced representation on this committee. Within bylaws limits of composition of the Committee, appoint at least one member associated with each of the major elements of the Society's membership (e.g. Academia, Industry);

Appoint a student representative as an ad-hoc member of the Committee each year.
Annually Society members
Collaborate with the Finance Committee, the Executive Office and the Office of the Secretary- Treasurer in developing vehicles for increasing the financial reserves of the Society For Biomaterials Conduct meetings with members from the several groups and financial advisors which will result in recommendations to Council for enhancing Society For Biomaterials reserves. Financial advisers
In addition to other long-range plans, present proposals to Council for the development of leadership within the Society's members. Develop and propose special workshop, annual meeting session, or retreat for training younger Society members in leadership skills that are useful within Society For Biomaterials, as well as within other aspects of the member's career and community. Such an activity should be financially supported by the Society (via grants and/or as a budget item), to reduce expenditures by the participants. Biannually Committee members
