The Society For Biomaterials
is a professional society which promotes advances in all phases of materials research and development by encouragement of cooperative educational programs, clinical applications, and professional standards in the biomaterials field.

Focus: Devices and Materials
Devices and Materials Who's Who

Objective: Consider, advise, and make recommendations to the Council on all matters of particular concern to those members of the corporation who are primarily interested in the manufacture of biomaterials. Provide appropriate liaison between the Society, its committees and other technical, professional, and regulatory bodies on matters that affect industry in coordination with Liaison Committee.

Define industrial-specific educational needs and develop educational short course and academic workshop proposals/curriculum and guidelines to meet those needs

Liaise between academia and industry to define academic curriculum and experiences which would be useful in career development  Report to Fall Council 

   

Liaise between academia and industry to identify industrial experts to talk about their research and development in the classroom or student chapter meeting environment to show the reduction to practice to biomaterials science

Facilitate interactions between industry, academia, regulatory, and governmental bodies Work with FDA to set-up industrial tours and presentations by industrial scienists to demonstrate range and scope of product development process Ongoing
