The Society For Biomaterials
is a professional society which promotes advances in all phases of materials research and development by encouragement of cooperative educational programs, clinical applications, and professional standards in the biomaterials field.

Focus: Education and Professional Development
Education and Professional Development Who's Who

Objective: Enhance professional standards and education in the field of biomaterials and make recommendations to Council concerning these activities.

Goals Strategies for Implementation Implement Resources Necessary for Implementation
Meet educational and professional development needs of members. Study, define, and make recommendations to Council including the areas of peripheral developments in other fields with potential benefit/relevance to advancing biomaterials technology, industrial needs and challenges, integration of basic/fundamental research, and technology development regulatory standards. Recommend new curriculum ideas to Meetings. Annually

Report to Fall Council

Committee members

Input from Members-at-Large and suggestions from community and membership

Meet the educational needs of public and legislators. Study, define, and make recommendations to Council. Correspond with Devices and Materials Committee on accurate presentation of industrial concerns such as materials availability, international tariffs, and restrictive national or regional standards. Annually

Input from Special Interest Groups relative to issues of concern within each topical area.

Define professional and ethical standards of biomaterials. Study, define, and make recommendations relative to development and adherence to professional and ethical standards in the areas of laboratory research, clinical research, animal research, education and training, and dissemination of results. Annually
