The Society For Biomaterials
is a professional society which promotes advances in all phases of materials research and development by encouragement of cooperative educational programs, clinical applications, and professional standards in the biomaterials field.

 

Strategic Plan (Finance)
Focus: Finance
Finance Who's Who

Objective: Supervise financial affairs of the corporation, advise and make recommendations to the Board of Directors and Council.

Goals Strategies for Implementation Implement Resources Necessary for Implementation
Identify financial goals for the Society Study strategic plan, consult with all Committees, work with Long Range Planning Committee, and recommend 5-year financial goals. Annually

Committee members
  Study future revenue sources, i.e. endowments, bequests, and grants. Annually

Committee members
Increase philanthropic revenue Study, recommend, and implement a volunteer-staffed plan to solicit revenues via endowments, bequests, grants, and member donations to student scholarships. Annually

Develop Society's annual budget Propose Society's budget for new fiscal year (beginning January 1 of the coming year.) Annually Report to Fall Council Committee, Chair, Executive Director, accounting staff
Understand Society's major financial commitments Review major contracts between Society and outside parties (e.g. contracts for business management, meeting management, and Executive Director services). Provide recommendations on new contracts to Board of Directors 6-18 months prior to term dates of current ontracts. Review after each new contract is signed and when new committee members are appointed; recommend 6-18 months prior to contract term date Committee Members
