The Society For Biomaterials
is a professional society which promotes advances in all phases of materials research and development by encouragement of cooperative educational programs, clinical applications, and professional standards in the biomaterials field.

Membership Publications
  • The Journal of Biomedical Materials Research is the premier peer-reviewed publication containing original contributions concerning studies of the preparation, performance, and evaluation of new biomaterials, the chemical, toxicological, and mechanical behavior of materials in physiological environments, and the response of blood and tissues to implanted materials. Appearing 16 issues annually, the Journal publishes clinical studies and research reports on all relevant biomaterial topics including the science and technology of alloys, polymers, ceramics and graft tissue in surgery, dentistry, medical instruments, prosthetic organs and other implanted devices.

  • Applied Biomaterials is a peer-reviewed publication containing papers on device development, implant retrieval and analysis, manufacturing, regulation of devices, liability and legal issues, standards, reviews of devices, and clinical applications. Appearing quarterly, it provides a unique forum for the discussion of policy issues in addition to those of engineering or scientific nature, such as the economics of device development, regulated and litigious environments, as well as manufacturing-related issues including materials processing and device construction.

  • The Biomaterials Forum reports timely information about the biomaterials Community. Regular sections include news about members, Society business, Special Interest Groups, industry, government, and academia. Book reviews, technical briefs, and information about services, resources, equipment, and materials help the biomaterials community keep in touch. Meeting calendars and employment notices provide valuable services to readers.

  • Transactions of the Society For Biomaterials are available at the Annual Meeting and may also be purchased through the Society Office.

  • Bio-Bookstore/Members receive discounts on book purchases at the online bookstore.
